We recently took our very first kid-free holiday since having kids… the first one in more than 5 years! And it was pretty amazing. That’s not to say we don’t love our family travel best, because that’s definitely my favourite kind, but it was nice to appreciate a bit of time to ourselves.
And the setting for our stay was the incredible Secrets Puerto Vallarta Bay Puerto Vallarta All-Inclusive Resort.
This was our first trip to Mexico so we did not know too much about what we could expect, nor were we very familiar with Puerto Vallarta itself. But excited to visit somewhere new of course!
And what a beautiful city it is.
We could not have loved it more with the beachfront location, the bright colours and let’s not forget the food… best tacos ever!
We spent 4 nights in Puerto Vallarta at Secrets and would be happy to stay again.
If you are heading to Puerto Vallarta, check out our Secrets Vallarta Bay review to see why this resort is a fantastic choice for your stay!

Guests can enjoy a wide range of activities and amenities at the resort, including an expansive pool area, a world-class spa, and a variety of dining options. The rooms at the resort are spacious and elegantly appointed, and guests will appreciate the attentive service from the friendly staff.
Secrets Vallarta Bay is an ideal choice for travellers who want to enjoy a luxurious all-inclusive experience in Puerto Vallarta.
The second you arrive at Puerto Vallarta Secrets Vallarta Bay you will be treated like a VIP, stepping into the reception foyer, with its high ceilings and instant beach views.
The whole resort is modern in its design and has a huge focus on water features, with fountains and water areas surrounding the decking areas and of course multiple pools too!
Plus if you’re looking for a chance to escape the kiddies, you won’t see a single on at this resort since it is an adults only accommodation.
But don’t worry, because I will tell you further down how you can enjoy the same luxury with your kiddies!!
The Best All-Inclusive Resort In Puerto Vallarta
All-inclusive resorts are one of our favourites! They are not always budget-friendly and in all honesty, sometimes you can be better off when all your meals and drinks are already taken care of.
All-inclusive resorts can be great value since you don’t have to purchase any food or drink during your stays – it’s all included in your room rate! This means room service, restaurant dining, bar drinks, and even the mini bar. All included!
So go with the intention to indulge!
Secrets Vallarta Bay is completely inclusive too. Some inclusive resorts only provide basic spirits, beer and wine as part of their packages and the rest is at cost, however, at Secrets, you can enjoy every drink and meal your heart designs from the resort.
They will even serve you cocktails without getting out of the pool! Ahhh yes, living the high life!
How To Get To Secrets Vallarta Bay?
Located just minutes from the airport, Secrets Vallarta Bay is an easy destination to reach. There are two easy options for getting to the resort: by taxi or by shuttle.
Taxis are readily available at the airport and will take you directly to the resort.
Many of the resorts will organise their own airport shuttle for guests and Vallarta Bay resort does have this option available.
Food And Beverages
As for food, there is a cuisine or dining style to suit everyone, plus 24-hour room service as well!! Here are the dining options at Secrets Puerto Vallarta:
- Barefoot Grill – Beachside grill & tacos
- The Bay Cafe – Premium Coffee & pastries
- Bordeaux – French cuisine
- Capers – Italian cuisine
- Carnival – International Buffet
- Castaways – Mediterranean restaurant
- Coco Cafe – Coffee & snacks
- Himitsu – Pan-asian fusion & teppanyaki
- Market Cafe – international buffet
- Oceana – Seafood restaurant
- Tamarindo – Mexican cuisine
All these options with the add-on of top-shelf premium alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, juice, tea and coffee! And as mentioned above, yes even in the pool! There is one swim-up bar, plus poolside and beachside service too.
Although the pool bar does shut around 4 PM. Something to note if you’re seeking a late afternoon beverage.
Some of the restaurants are actually part of the neighbour resort – Now Amber Puerto Vallarta, which just happens to be a mirror image of Secrets Vallarta Bay… and it is kid-friendly!
These two resorts are connected making movement between the two very easy.
Guests at Secrets can enjoy the facilities at Now Amber as they please during their stay. Very cool.
With all these choices for meals, would you believe that my favourite was actually the Barefoot Grill simply because it served up the most amazing and simple tacos that you could help yourself to anytime during its opening hours.
Slow-cooked meat, fresh salad… and the BEST GUACAMOLE!!
My mouth still waters just thinking about it. I really miss those tacos!
Large Luxurious Resort Rooms
Secrets Vallarta Bay Puerto Vallarta has 271 rooms with different levels of luxury. All rooms have king-size beds and a couch, a TV, a desk, and lots of storage space for luggage (although I never unpack when I stay somewhere…suitcase living).
But my favourite part in our standard room was the bathroom!!!
Being adults only is pretty clear when you see your room and the huge spa bath in the open bathroom.
Oh yeah, there are no walls separating the bath from the rest of the room! Just some sheer curtains if you’re feeling a little shy! But the spa bath is the bomb!
Plus they have a double sink so you can brush your teeth together like a cute, loved-up couple on your honeymoon! They also have plenty of homely touches with complimentary toiletries, and all the amenities you need, like a hairdryer and make-up mirror.
Check out our quick video that shows you around our standard room and the resort:
All rooms have fully stocked mini bars with juice, water, soft drink and beer. These are part of the all-inclusive perks so don’t worry about that bill at the end!
All rooms receive cleaning services daily with fresh towels, toiletries and a mini bar top up.
They also leave an info sheet on the bed with some chocolate each night, telling you all that is on the next day at the resort with entertainment and events. There is always something on!
Secrets Vallarta Bay Preferred Club
If you really want to splurge at Vallarta Bay Secrets and live in luxury, the Preferred Club have bigger rooms, with extra services and some have a second spa bath on their veranda overlooking the ocean.
They also have their own preferred club bar and snack service as well as a private pool.
This area of the resort can only be accessed with a preferred club card or as a guest visiting a preferred club resort guest. We had the chance to mingle in one of the oceanfront rooms and it was pretty spectacular.
The room deck was large enough for about 40 people and the room itself has a separate bedroom, lounge room and bathroom. Plenty of space!
You could pretty much throw a small party in one of those rooms!
Secrets Vallarta Bay Resort Facilities
There is so much to do at Secrets Vallarta Bay, with 3 main pools on the Secrets side of the resort, and a hot tub.
Over at the neighbouring Now Amber side, they have a similar design with swimming pools and hot tub, all with ocean views too. As a Secrets guest, you can enjoy both sides of the resort!
The main pool has a swim-up bar, so it gets really popular in the afternoons. Beware the blazing sun though! We saw a lot of lobster-coloured guests!
Around the pool area and along the beachfront, there are lots of sun lounges, and some sunbeds too if you are quick.
There are plenty of places to laze about with a good book and enjoy your kid-free relaxation, in between dips in the pool.
Beach towels are provided by the resort and you can collect them in the pool and beach areas on your way past, near the Barefoot Grill.
First thing in the morning they will also put one on each of the sun lounges too for convenience.
Resort Entertainment
Or if you are feeling more adventurous, there is a gym and tennis court, ping pong, volleyball and water sports you can participate in during your stay. There are also scheduled fitness classes such as aqua aerobics and yoga.
The resort has a casino and every night there is live entertainment with music, dancing and more.
There is enough to keep you busy at the resort itself, however, if you do want to go for some exploring beyond Secrets Vallarta Bay, they have a tour desk to help you book your activities.
We highly recommend a Las Caletas day trip if you have the time. It is suitable for kids too.
The beach in front of the resort is beautiful and a perfect place for a stroll. If you stroll far enough, you will end up in Puerto Vallarta town centre.
Although it is a bit of a walk and there are some rocks along the way so make sure you’ve got comfy shoes. Otherwise, it’s a quick taxi ride, which the hotel staff can organise for you.
If you are travelling with kids and staying next door at Now Amber Puerto Vallarta, it has some extra facilities for the family including a water slide, and a kids club to give mum and dad a break.

Secrets Vallarta Bay Review & Summary
Secrets Vallarta Bay Puerto Vallarta has everything you want from an all-inclusive resort stay, with that added benefit of being adults only if you are looking for a kid-free escape.
It is luxurious and modern, with so many facilities, restaurants and activities to keep you busy.
The staff are friendly and welcoming. The rooms are gorgeous and comfortable, with king-size beds and plenty of space in your apartment.
It is a short taxi ride into Puerto Vallarta town centre or a beach stroll there if you choose, so you don’t have far to go to enjoy the city itself and of course, you’re right on the beach anyway making it easy to take a dip in the ocean and the pool each day!
One of the things I do especially love is if you are travelling to Puerto Vallarta with kids you can still enjoy this same luxury with the sister resort Now Amber since they are essentially one large resort.
While we were enjoying a kid-free trip this time, it would be a great place to visit with the kids in future too. I know they would love it!
This all-inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta means you can enjoy your stay without having to worry about extra costs such as food and drinks on top, as everything is included in your room price!
We highly recommend it and there was nothing we could fault about our stay!
