The Glebe Apartments Review

Before we get right into the review, we want to let you know that we were not sponsored at all for this stay. We booked and paid for The Glebe via Booking.com for a special event with extended family, following 3 days in Lake Tekapo for New Year’s Eve.
The thing that stood out most to us about The Glebe was the little touches that made it feel like a home away from home and added comforts.
Like heated tiles and towel racks in the bathroom, Netflix access and a big 8-seater dining table that allowed for a little entertaining too.
Location

You really can’t beat the location. The Glebe Apartments sit just a couple of minutes’ walk from central Queenstown, tucked in a quiet street that means you’re close to all the action but not surrounded by nightlife noise.
It’s only a few minutes to the Queenstown Gardens, Lake Wakatipu foreshore, and the town’s many restaurants, cafes, and shops. We loved being able to walk everywhere — especially since parking in Queenstown can be tricky (and expensive) at times.
The convenience meant we could easily pop back to our apartment for breaks between exploring, which is a huge win when travelling with kids.
It was also walkable to the Skyline Gondola and the wharf for popular attractions.
Although it is up a bit of a hill, so prepare for some well-worked calves on your way back up.
Our Apartment

We booked a 3-bedroom lake-view apartment, and the first thing that struck us was how spacious it was. The large, open-plan living and dining area provided plenty of space to unwind after busy days of exploring.

The full kitchen made it completely self-contained — and even included a kitchen island.
The kitchen was fully equipped, which made self‑catering simple — perfect for breakfasts before heading out on our adventures, or easy dinners when we didn’t feel like dining out.
And thankfully within walking distance to a couple of different supermarkets.

There were 2 bathrooms (one ensuite), two couches, an 8-seater dining table and a 4-person table on the balcony. It also had a gas fireplace and heaters, large spacious rooms and cozy armchairs.
The furniture had an antique vibe.

Our apartment also had a private balcony overlooking Lake Wakatipu and the mountains beyond.
All 3 bedrooms were comfortable with plenty of storage. The apartment also came with laundry facilities — always handy when you’re travelling for longer trips.
Facilities & Amenities
While The Glebe doesn’t offer on‑site dining, it more than makes up for it with everything you could possibly need within walking distance. Grocery stores, takeaway options, and excellent restaurants are all just minutes away.
The property offers secure undercover parking free of charge for one car per apartment.
If you do happen to be travelling with others with a vehicle, there is a paid car park next door, or just ask them if they have any spare car spaces. They let us park our second car for free, too.
Some of the larger apartments even come with private courtyards or spa baths — ideal if you’re visiting in winter after a day on the slopes.
Why The Glebe Is Great For Queenstown Family Accommodation
For families, The Glebe Apartments ticks all the right boxes:
- Space to spread out – no cramped hotel rooms here.
- Fully equipped kitchens for easy meal prep or snacks.
- Central location so you can walk everywhere with kids.
- Washing machine and dryer make life easier during longer stays.
- 3 TVs with Netflix included.
We also appreciated the quiet atmosphere despite the central setting, making it easy to relax after full, fun days exploring.
If you’re deciding where to stay in Queenstown, The Glebe Luxury Apartments is one of the best options for families wanting more space than a hotel, while still being within walking distance of the town centre.
What’s Nearby?

We mentioned already that it’s pretty much walkable to all the central Queenstown attractions and the centre of town. You are within minutes of loads of restaurants, supermarkets, bottle shops, bus stops and mostly everything else too.
It’s a longer walk to the Skyline Gondola building, but by longer, I mean about 15 minutes.
It’s around 10 minutes or less to the wharf to catch a cruise, like the TSS Earnslaw. We did this with a Walter Peak Farm visit, which ended up being one of our favourite family experiences in Queenstown.
It’s also a short drive to Arrowtown or Gibbston for local attractions, wineries and sightseeing.
What Did We Think Of The Glebe Queenstown?
We loved our stay at The Glebe Apartments. It felt homely and comfortable, but most importantly, convenient for our Queenstown family activities.
We originally booked a 4-bedroom apartment, but 2 of the extended family couldn’t make it, so we switched to the 3-bedroom instead.
The location, space, and amenities made it an ideal base for exploring Queenstown and the surrounding region. The Glebe is perfectly placed for anyone who wants to stay central, yet significantly more affordable than somewhere like Peppers Beacon.
Would we stay again? Absolutely. It was the perfect option in Queenstown for comfort, space, and convenience, especially in a bigger group of 6 like we were.
Is The Glebe Apartments Worth It?
Short answer: Yes — especially for families or longer stays. It’s one of those places that makes travelling with kids feel easy.
The extra space, kitchen facilities, and central location make it far more comfortable than a standard hotel stay.
