Kids have some unique habits at times. So unpredictable, yet remarkable with the way their little minds tick over. Last year we took our daughter Lily on her first overseas holiday, to Vietnam. Part of our holiday was spent living it up in relaxing beachside resort luxury in Hoi An, staying at the Sunrise Hoi An Beach Resort.
The beach itself was not so spectacular, having been damaged by the massive storms and tidal waves several months earlier. Thankfully most other parts of the resort were already restored before we stayed there, but they were still yet to add new sand to the beach directly in front of the resort. This one was slightly to the side, but still right beside our resort.
It wasn’t Lily’s first time on the beach, but the first time maybe since she could walk. And apparently she didn’t like the feeling of the sand beneath her toes. Her instinct was to tuck her legs up and protest every time her dad tried to get her to walk in the sand.
It was hilarious to watch and in the end we gave up trying to get her walking on the sand. Thankfully it’s a habit she has sort of grown out of… although it still takes to get used to the sand every time. Actually… even sandpits kind of freak her out for the few minutes until she realises how awesome they are.
I wonder if baby Violet will be a beach baby unlike her big sis.
