Venice is one of my favourite cities in the world but sadly we only had barely 24 hours to spend in this magical and unique city on water. Italy was always going to be a country I knew I would fall in love with and Venice is one of those places that bucketlists are made of.
Our visit to Venice was a super quick stop as part of a 2 and a half weeks around Europe express tour. It was not nearly long enough, but one day in Venice is better than none so I will cherish these memories until our next visit.
One Day in Venice: A Journey in Pictures
We visited Venice in summer, so it was crowded and heavy with touristy stalls, all trying to sell us the latest in Venice souvenirs, or fake designer handbags.
By afternoon, the high level of human traffic takes its toll with litter scattered across St Mark’s Square and making its way towards the canals. That was the only negative of our visit and one of those things that makes you sad to see a place so beautiful being slowly damaged by those people who come to enjoy it’s splendour.
But nothing can take away the charming nature of this floating city, with canals leading every which way, quaint little restaurants, and fascinating buildings. But I will let the photos do the talking. Although we weren’t great photographers back then, with our point and shoot so I look forward to returning with the DSLR next time.
