First Beach Trip – Snapshot Story Link Up #11

One of the most exciting parts of travelling with kids… whether you are travelling abroad, around your own country, or simply taking a day trip to some great treasure in your own backyard, there is always a new and exciting experience to be had.

For many people who have travelled, while there are always new places to see and experiences to have, the firsts become less frequent over time, but with kids, there are so many new firsts to see through their eyes and it creates a whole new excitement, even seeing the same places again.

This is one of the things that makes family travel worth it! No matter the extra challenges you may face at times, like having to pull over half an hour into your road trip to feed the unsettled baby, or having a quiet night in during holiday because your child needs some down time.

Because when you see the delight on their faces when they experience something new, you forget those parts completely!

Yesterday we had one of those mini adventures with our two girls. A beach picnic with friends at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast. This may only be about 75 minutes away from home for us, but being a winter baby, our youngest Violet had never been to the beach. Yesterday we changed that!

Violet’s first experience in the waves. The tide was coming in so the water current was quite strong… a little uneasy but this girl loves water so she was pretty much unphased by her first beach experience! She didn’t even mind the squishy sand in her toes.

Her big sister was not too impressed with the waves though so she was much happier on the beach building sand castles for most of the time. She could have stayed there all day if it wasn’t for the fact that we would have been burnt to a crisp.

We had a great family day out catching up with friends with young kids too. In fact, the average age of the little people was 3 and under and they were all little girls. Most of our friends seem to have little girls, which is convenient with our kids having little mini besties!

We are planning a weekend mini break maybe Australia Day weekend to get the kids back to the beach soon since they both had a nice time.

Do you love the beach? When was your last beach trip?

What is Snapshot Story Sunday?

Every travel snapshot has a story to tell and sometimes those stories get lost until you flip back through a photo album or digital folder full of your travel snapshots. Or worse… lost forever because you simply never shared them!

Each week we will share a favourite travel photo that has a great story to tell. It may be about a really awesome travel moment we had, a unique experience, or something funny. And you are invited to do the same.

Snapshot Story Sunday will become a monthly linky party in 2016, going live on the first Sunday of the month and staying open until the last day of the month so you can pop back and link up your new posts during the month as well.
